One of the most hard working, talented, popular movie actors passed away on the 6Th of January due to a heart attack. The actor was of 66 years and was not old enough to die of a heart attack. The sad news baffled the Bollywood industry and many actors showed their condolences by visiting his house and those who couldn’t visit his they showed their sorrows through Twitter. Om Puri was an Indian actor who also appeared in much British, American, Pakistani movies. He made his film debut in the 1976 Marathi film Ghashiram Kotwal, based on a Marathi play and from there he came a long way ahead of his life making some of the best movies in Bollywood. He was critically acclaimed for his performances in many unconventional roles such as a victimized tribal in Aakrosh (1980), a police inspector in Ardh Satya (1982), where he revolts against lifelong social, cultural and political persecution and for which he got the National Film Award for Best Actor. He has made a numerous contribution in the Bollywood which people will never dismiss from their mind. He was honored with Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award, Grand Prix Special des Amériques Montréal World Film Festival for exceptional contribution to the cinematographic art Award and much more. Here are the best all time Bollywood movies done by Om Puri. Although he has done many more fantastic and Blockbuster Bollywood films but he is mostly remembered by below flicks:

1. Don

A sleek, stylish, saucy, action-packed movie full of thriller and a very appreciable attempt to reintroduce the movie with a slightly different storyline. Don is a fairly entertaining movie. The film being a remake is to draw a comparison with the original version which was a hit played by Amitabh Bachchan. Nonetheless, Farhan Akhtar’s Don is much more contemporary and stylish in look as compared to the original Don with added few twists and turns in the remake and the screenplay has been executed with perfection. The movie is about a person who is the key to every crime related to drug trafficking named DON. He is the man responsible for the day to day operation, the success of the illegal drug trade. However, while the business is running in its peaks an Interpol officer played by OM PURI comes up with the plan to infiltrate the business and expose don. The story resembles with the former don story but with some changes. Farhan Akhtar has come up with the technical up gradation and gave the movie a new heads up.

2. Agneepath

The movie is a remake of a former movie of Amitabh Bachchan and met with the expectations of the audience to some extent. The former movie created a humongous buzz around the public at the time of its release and created a benchmark at a very high level and only Amitabh Bachchan did the true justice with the character of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan. Hrithik did give his best and put all his effort while portraying the character but partly succeed as people expected a lot more. Vijay Dinanath Chauhan is out to avenge his father’s death at the hands of Kancha and reclaim the respect of his village, Mandwa. In the process, he becomes a criminal who uses powerful people to come up in the ranks. Karan has made loads of changes to the story and that’s absolutely fine the point where he fails the way the village of 1977 is portrayed feels quite outdated and the concept of a villain leading a military rule so close to a metro like Mumbai in the ’90s. Om Puri plays the role of Gaitonde the fearless commissioner of police who tried to expose the Drug trafficking and developed a soft corner for Vijay Dinanath Chauhan. Though there was not much of his character but still had a significant role which Om Puri did with elegance and with perfection.

3. Dhol

Dhol is all about four friends, Sameer Arya (played by Tusshar Kapoor), Martan Damdere (played by Rajpal Yadav), Pankaj Tiwari(played by Sharman Joshi), and Gautam Sesodia(played by Kunal Khemu). All four friends are broke, accident prone and unable to pay the rent of their house, they are nothing but quitters with Sameer and Gautam having no family, while Pankaj has been kicked out by his brother-in-law, and Martan has borrowed money from his maternal uncle. The four friends find out a way by which they can do better in their lives and decided take a loan from the bank but it all goes in vain. Then they decided to find a girl who is wealthy and let one of them marry her and spend their life with happiness and soon they found a girl who has just moved into their neighborhood in search of her brother Rahul. They decided to con the girl by pretending to know her brother and befriend her so that one of them could marry her. But the girl had her grandparents with her in front of whom eventually every one of them lost their true identity. Om Puri was the grandfather and hated Marthan and even wanted to file a police complaint against him. But soon the girl figured everything out and decided to file a complaint against the four, but before filing the complaint they were abducted by a gangster named Zikomo who was looking for a DHOL which Rahul had stolen from him. The movie lacks the perfect story line but still managed to make people laugh and every actor stick to their role and made an average story into an outstanding light-hearted comedy movie.

4. Singh Is Kinng

Singh is kinng is one of the most hyped movies in Bollywood. The story revolves around Happy Singh (Akshay Kumar) a simpleton, from a village in Punjab, with a heart of gold. He always tries to do good, but exactly the opposite happens. He tries to help a villager and ends up ruining the whole village. Frustrated the villagers decide to send him far away to Australia, to bring back Lakhan Singh a.k.a Lucky, an underworld don in Australia. The villagers wanted to send Happy away at any cost and thus decided to send Rangeela (Om Puri) with him as he knows English well among all the villagers and can communicate with others better than other villagers. Rangeela never left Happy alone as he knew Happy would cause a lot of trouble if he was left alone. The movie is all about the journey of a person to bring back his peer into the village again and make him walk again on the right path. The film contains a lot of situational comedy and promises to make the audience laugh. The unusual storyline and punches at the right time make the movie a must watchable.

The movie will force you to roll on the floor laughing in the first half and the second half will surely pull the string to your heart which gives you a different experience from other mindless comedy movies. The film is about a poor boy who tries to repay his huge debt but all in vain and then had to commit suicide but unfortunately Rajpal Yadav who was an employee in Paresh Rawal’s boat, saved him. The consequences were such that Shahid had to play mute and dumb. Poverty leads Shahid, Rajpal and Paresh to Om Puri’s house where Paresh skillfully tricked the two into being the mortgage and escaped with his boat. The story now takes a new turn when Shahid finds Kareena who is genuinely mute and with the passage of time both Kareena and her sister finds out that Shahid is been lying about his deaf and dumb situation from the beginning but despite of every fact Shahid felled in love with Kareena and managed to get into the hearts of every member of the family and yes, It’s a happy ending with a lots of Humor, Fun, and Satire.
